Timelines for Pitching Opportunities
The deadline for submissions for the CTV Canadian Documart, New Players, iPitch,
Pitchers Paradise and HDTV Pitch has now passed. We aim to notify all selected
pitchers by mid-May 2005.
All pitches are selected by a jury specific to that session and all submissions
are kept strictly confidential.
Once again, BANFF will stage its signature pitching sessions, offering
valuable exposure to a wide audience of commissioning editors, producers,
financial executives and other industry representatives. Selected finalists
will have the rare opportunity to try to make their ideas become reality in a
one-of-a-kind, career-making moment.
The Banff World Television Festival is partnering once again this year with
NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation) to bring you the innovative HDTV pitching
session. Join us in creating the new entertainment and information television
products of tomorrow. Pitch your ideas for an HDTV television production to a
panel of HDTV experts. The winner will be awarded up to $7,500 (US)!
Confirmed pitching opportunities at BANFF 2005 include the ever-popular New Players
Pitch. Launched with great success in 2001, this session provides emerging talent
with a platform to be seen and heard by top decision-makers in the content-creation
business. The aim of the New Players Pitch is to give 'rookies' an opportunity to secure
a meeting with a broadcaster, distributor or partner who can help move a project from
idea to development or from development to production. And there are prizes up for
grabs! The National Film Board of Canada will choose a winning pitch from all New
Players pitches and award $5,000 for in-kind technical services in Canada. Also, during
each New Players session the audience votes for their favorite pitch. At the Pitching
Prizes session on Wednesday afternoon, Kodak Entertainment Imaging will present the
Audience Choice Award of $5,000 in in-kind film product to the audience's favorite pitch.
Pitchers Paradise is a forum in which selected projects are pitched to a
world market of programmers, financiers and buyers. This audience of decision-makers
will offer their feedback on the pitch as well as opinions and advice on moving the
project forward. This is a unique and instructive initiative. This year we are looking
for entries in the following genres: Drama, Comedy, Children's, Reality and Lifestyle.
And watch for the always highly anticipated CTV Canadian Documart, an
opportunity for makers of mainstream, popular documentaries to win $100,000 in
prize money. With $50,000 for first place and $30,000 and $20,000 for the two
runners-up, CTV Canadian Documart offers an invaluable forum to pitch to the
world's top decision-makers and gain development funding and important exposure
for the project.
iPitch - Do you have a new media concept that you want to make a reality?
Need development funding? We have the forum for you! If you have an idea for a new
media project associated with a television program that combines convergence,
interactivity, creativity and originality, then iPitch at the Banff World Television
Festival is the opportunity for you. Pitch your idea to people who can help make it
happen and win $10,000 in development funding from the Bell Broadcast and New Media
Fund.
We aim to notify all selected pitchers by mid-May 2005.
All pitches are selected by a jury specific to that session and all submissions
are kept strictly confidential.
